Stretching Assholes: Found
«
I was out picking up trash and bottles in the stream behind my dad’s townhouse in Burke, Virginia, and amongst the Bud Light beer cans, moldy pet toys and by far the biggest bottle of Crown Royal I have ever seen (worthy of being called a handle, as it did have one) I found this lovely little VHS called STRETCHING ASSHOLES. It must have been pitched over the fence with the last large DiGiorno to-go box, but rather than toss it in with the rest of the country western CD’s, Vitamin waters and other non biodegradables cozying up with what’s left to decay, I have decided to make it a case of anthropological study. As I was bound to take the metro into our nation’s capital the next morning to listen to the begging remarks of a withering sex call to save social services from being cut from women and children, STRETCHING ASSHOLES carried the good word with me. Sometimes, more important than any defense to Republican onslaught is the soulful expose (pretend that’s a french word I’m trying to say) of the often unlubricated truth, that near and far, politicians in Virginia are stretching our poor puckers!- and all with our consent. They are fucking us with cut backs while corporations suck the teet. At age 18 we have the government’s first smug spank toward the voting booth to take our special part in being screwed over by the people that leisurely dip in and out of our private spaces, and open up whole new worlds of exploitation by the men with the magic quills. It’s time to bring it all from the backyard (literally) to the front of the debate! So while I was there, I decided that I was going to take what I found in Virginia’s stanky mud banks and place it for show on the capital hill steps, a few memorials, etc, and a few take pictures as evidence.
I got to this photographing at 4pm on a Monday, and then ended up taking an after-dinner surprise road trip 200 miles away to Lexington to visit with a friend, so I was not able to visit all the places that I wanted to- and there are a lot more! The white house, the IMF head quarters, the state department building, Lincoln’s lap, etc etc. That will have to wait until my next trip.

“A friend of mine always tells the story of a Sonic Youth concert in St. Louis a long while ago, Goo tour if I recall correctly. I believe it was the same night that the episode which revealed who killed Laura was airing for the first time; I didn’t get into Twin Peaks until a bit after that so it didn’t mean much to me at the time. Before the show, they placed a TV out on stage so people could watch it.”
